This workshop is best suited for participants who want to refine their precision, improve closure techniques, and build more confidence in surgical assisting environments.
What you will learn
In this hands-on workshop, participants will review and practice advanced suturing concepts designed to strengthen precision, closure technique, and confidence in the operating room.
You will learn and practice:

Complex interrupted suturing techniques
Practice techniques such as vertical mattress, horizontal mattress, corner stitches, and buried knots.

Continuous suturing techniques
Improve your use of running sutures, running locking sutures, and consistent closure patterns.

Precision layered closures
Learn principles for deep dermal, subcuticular, and fascial closures to support better wound approximation and healing.

Strategies for challenging wounds
Review approaches for irregular wounds, high-tension closures, dead space reduction, and avoiding common closure complications.

Reinforce safe, efficient handling of surgical instruments and sharps during suturing practice. -

CSFA & Founder of Superior Surgical Assisting, LLC
Analyer Medina, CSFA, founded Superior Surgical Assisting in 2014 with a mission to create opportunities for Certified Surgical First Assistants and elevate the role of skilled surgical professionals in the operating room. After relocating from South Florida to Central Florida, she quickly realized that Certified Surgical First Assistants were not widely recognized or hired in many hospital settings. Rather than giving up, Analyer accepted a position as a Certified Surgical Technologist while continuing to build the vision that would become Superior Surgical Assisting.

Her 12 years at AdventHealth Celebration, including her experience as part of the Global Robotics Institute’s robotic surgery team, gave her the hands-on expertise, discipline, and confidence needed to become the “second set of skilled hands” surgeons depend on. Today, through Superior Surgical Assisting, Analyer is proud to inspire surgical technologists and healthcare professionals to advance their careers, believe in their potential, and create new paths in surgical assisting.
